Constitution? What Constitution?
I just stumbled across Scott Horton’s article in Harpers discussing the the John Yoo memos crafted to “enhance” the power of the George W. Bush presidency. Where by enhance I of course mean “grant dictatorial powers to” by, among other things, repealing age-old nuggets like the Posse Comitatus Act.

So to sum up my understanding thus far: For eight years we’ve harbored a questionably elected president, one who launched the country into an illegal war — a war founded entirely on fabricated evidence and funded with borrowed recession dollars — who then parlayed his concocted, ongoing international wartime crisis into an excuse to apply philosophical jujitsu to an already tattered Constitution.
Nice.
Okay, seriously, if you want to do something about this, please urge Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a Special Prosecutor. Here’s another online petition, not unlike the one from last week.

I don’t know where this is coming from, but it started about a month back: (Semi-)Intelligent post comments, highly unlikely to be from a bot, all clearly intended to get people to jump over to “Check City” or “Cyber Gifts” or whatnot. Either this stuff is crowdsourced, or these guys somehow think that my blog is a gateway to a deluge of traffic.

@payday advance online: Okay, so I just posted your comment, with your link, because it clearly took at least a minute or so to type up. But… c’mon, the Democratic party is the epitome of “can I get some of that action”?? What does this even mean? Note that the Obama plan only called for an in increase in taxes for the 250k plus bracket, not 120k, and the rollback of tax cuts is still less than the Reagan era or even the Papa “read my lips” Bush days. I agree that the loopholes should be eliminated; really I think we should just go for a flat tax. Problem is that this would kill an entire industry that thrives on the ridiculous complexity of the US tax codes.
@penisenlargementz: I am glad that you find this blog informative. And I’m glad that I in some un-small way may have helped you on your purported quest to achieving superlative manhood. No I will not produce more blogs with content related to penis enlargement. And, no, I do not know where you can find more information about this, except maybe on your own site. The above factoid comes from an interesting essay by Martin Armstrong that has been circling around the Net (find one here: The Coming Great Depression).
Bear in mind when reading, however, that Mr. Armstrong, in addition to being of sharp mind, a frequent contributor to academic journals on the topic of finance, as well as one of the highest paid economists in the 80s and 90s, had spent seven years jailed in contempt before finally pleading guilty in 2007 of what appears to be a Madoff-sized ponzi scheme in Japan.

Karl Rove refuses to testify. Again.
Remember when, last year, Karl Rove refused to obey an order to testify before a House Judiciary Committee? Well, last Monday, February 23rd, he did it again.
The folks at Credo Mobile (one of the coolest mobile operators ever, by the way) have setup an online campaign here urging Attorney General Eric Holder to escalate the matter. From their petition:
I urge you to take swift action to compel Karl Rove to comply with a Congressional subpoena to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. Since George W. Bush is no longer president, Rove should no longer be able to hide behind the smoke and mirrors of the ‘executive privilege’ defense. America is waiting for the Obama administration to step in; we deserve to know the truth about Rove’s activities in the White House.
Just think, Fox News can get his arrest live during a broadcast from their own studios. Imagine the ratings!
